As a leader within the packaging industry, Garthwest are often required to streamline our processes in response to the rapidly changing market. We strive to remove the trials associated with the fluctuating demands of modern retailers without wavering from our ability to deliver.
The Project
Garthwest works with a leading UK poultry business who supply direct to major multiples. As part of this contract we manufacture 15 different SRP (Shelf Ready Packaging) lines for the UK’s leading German supermarket chain. To ensure traceability thoughout, BRC Food Safety Standard compliance at all levels is vital to this supply chain.
An SRP of this style is both die-cut, printed and has a die-cut lid, and in addition, two print types were required: one promotional and one permanent.
The Brief
Print change management and swift turnaround
All 15 lines required design changes with the same delivery due date, so it was imperative for us to accommodate these changes quickly and with minimal disruption. To achieve this, Garthwest sent samples to the retailer, the retail print manager and our customer, then tracked approvals across all stakeholders.
The outcome
Completion in six weeks
We colour matched all final products in our specialist ink lab and ensured all styles were correct, closely managing the changeover and running down stocks of the old products. Garthwest’s involvement included our internal sales department, our design department and required extraordinary account management throughout.
All print and style changes were managed with an exceptionally fast turnaround and all changes were done within six weeks. As there were two print types, in total 30 different lines were supplied over a further period of 12 weeks.
This is a great illustration of our ability to deal with complex briefs and deliver on time and within budget.
