The Challenge:
Our client needed a cost-effective and strong solution to pack a pair of two different size cakes in a crate and support them during transit. The client wanted to avoid complex, expensive solutions that could slow down their packing lines, require additional tooling, and increase inventory management.
Our Solution:
Our team conducted a detailed analysis of the client’s packing lines operation, transport arrangements and the cake’s boxes and the transit crate. After reviewing several options, our design team proposed an innovative solution that not only used half the material typically required but also offering a robust support for both cake sizes.
Through innovating packaging engineering, we developed a single-piece insert with strategically placed cut-outs, perforations and folds, allowing both sizes of the cakes to be secured in place using their own weight—eliminating the need for additional components or tooling.
